Migaku is a study tool: click words in subtitles and web pages, turn them into flashcards and review them, in 11 languages, from $10 a month with no free plan. Read Frog starts from reading: bilingual pages, dual subtitles and selection translation are free in 179 languages, and AI explanations, a notebook and FSRS review are there when you want to keep what you read. Open source; Pro is $3 a month.
Read first, then learn
Whole-page bilingual translation, dual subtitles on YouTube, X and Netflix, and selection translation are free with the Google or Microsoft translator, or bring your own OpenAI, DeepSeek, Gemini or local model. Select a word or sentence to have an AI Action explain it, and save the result to Notebase together with the sentence it came from.

What Read Frog adds
The page itself, in two languages
Migaku gives you a dictionary on every word. Read Frog gives you the whole page first, then the dictionary:
- Turn on page translation and read the article, thread or documentation with the translation beside each paragraph, so you can read on and check yourself only when you need to.
- Select a word or a long sentence and run an AI Action: a definition in context, a breakdown of the grammar, or any prompt you write yourself.
- Save it to Notebase in one click. Add a card template and your notes become flashcards that FSRS schedules by how well you remember each one.

What users say
I watch anime and Japanese vloggers on YouTube, and finding Read Frog felt like discovering a whole new world! A fansub-level experience: Gemini is amazing at filling in what spoken language leaves out, and the subtitles come out natural and colloquial — goodbye stiff machine translation!

It doesn't just do immersive translation — it also gives AI companion explanations word by word, sentence by sentence. Language learning effortlessly reaches the next level.

It can translate pages, extract the main content of an article, and give detailed explanations of words and sentences.
